Windows - remove viruses and malware

Check for viruses and malware on your Windows computer using free tools available on the internet:

If you are running Windows ME or XP, disable system restore.
Do an online virus scan and removal using Trend Micro's HouseCall free online virus scanner at http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp. After the scan completes, click on "Delete" to remove the offending files.
Download and install Ad-aware to remove spyware and malware. After launching the program, click on the globe icon to download the latest definition file. Click on "Start" to launch the scan.
If you are running Windows ME or XP, enable system restore.
Use Windows Update to install the latest fixes to the system.
